1. Choose several lines from Anne Sexton's poem "Courage" explain them in detail. Examine the lines for meaning, figurative language and appeal.
It is in the small things we see it.
The child’s first step,
as awesome as an earthquake.
The first time you rode a bike,
wallowing up the sidewalk.
The first spanking when your heart
went on a journey all alone.
These sentences are very easy to understand. But you also can find some sences from them. When you frist do something, everyone will congratulate you, encourage you. FIRST is the most important! Have a wonderful beginging, you can continue, go on, keep up!!Before you have a stronge feeling, you must run into many little terrible things. If you are not brave, you will be beat soon. A strong heart and a good mind-set equal courage. When you feel bad, unloved, alone even hurt. Don not sad! Tell yourself "Don't worry about that!" Because we will meet a lot of things that we don't enjoy it--DEATH... If you can endure despair, unloved and every bad things, you are going to get brave!
